Celebrating a Remarkable Journey: Honouring Mrs. Kashaija Betty
Today, we gather to celebrate a true luminary in the field of education, a distinguished member of the STAPS Hall of Fame.
In June 2001, Mrs. Kashaija Betty ascended to the role of Headteacher, having previously served as Deputy Headteacher at Mbarara Municipal Primary School. She took the helm from Mr. Betunga Deusdedit, who had been transferred to Uganda Martyrs Primary School.
With a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to excellence from a progressive school that had chased and by far outcompeted Kabuzire’s school (as STAPS was better known at the time), she came determined to elevate and leave an indelible mark on our beloved Alma mater, transforming it from a school that had now been overshadowed by other schools into a beacon of educational success.
Her visionary leadership led to the establishment of several groundbreaking initiatives, including the introduction of the Boarding Section at STAPS. This strategic decision has allowed STAPS to thrive amidst a competitive landscape of increasingly formidable schools. Under her industrious tenure, STAPS not only achieved local acclaim but also gained international recognition. Our talented students were proud Winners at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, UNCSD RIO+20 International Essay Competition on Land Degradation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 20-22 June 2012, a testament to the Environmental Protection Club initiated by CECOD FEE. Academically, STAPS shone brightly with little Saint Arinaitwe Bright Allan becoming the best in the 2016 PLE Results in the entire country, Uganda, another remarkable milestone under Mrs. Kashaija’s leadership. The performing arts flourished as well, with celebrated artists like Grenia Nyamwija, an acrobatic performing artist, vocalist and backup singer for Ray G and Mbabazi Doreen (Cia Baby), a Finalist (5th) at the CocaCola RatedNext Sing It 3 competition in 2015 and a huge performing artist in Mbarara and many more all emerging from her nurturing guidance.
Mrs. Kashaija Betty is the second longest-serving Headteacher of St. Aloysius Primary School, having dedicated 19 years of her life from June 2001 to November 25, 2020. The longest serving Headteacher is the late Mr. Kabuzire K. Adrian (1970-1997, 27 years). Her retirement left an indelible mark on the institution, and her legacy continues to inspire both staff and students alike.
As we honor her today, we reflect on the profound impact she has made on countless lives and the enduring spirit of excellence she instilled in our school community.
Happy Birthday, Mrs. Kashaija! 🥳🎂🍹🎉
Your contributions will forever be cherished.
